Anything you do for the first time you can probably count on not being very good at it, especially if you are missing key details necessary to succeed.  This is definitely the case if you find yourself experiencing your first disaster, and you have not taken advantage of information that helps you prepare and respond. 

Are you one of those people who says, "It'll never happen to me."  If that's the reason you have not taken the time to safeguard the people who matter most to you as well as your home, then it's time to replace denial with the determination to get busy. Unfortunately, odds are you will at some point in your life suddenly become a Disaster Survivor, and those who have prepared will face the challenges ahead with confidence.
