Building a Stronger Future

Collaborative Focus

Turning Lives Right Side Up

It was the "Yes, can do," attitude that inspired our community during the Slater Fire.  Neighbors who didn't know one another came to one another's rescue and remained friends.  Individuals decided for the first time to become a volunteer and their involvement in the community did not end when the disaster was over. Businesses, large and small, opened their doors and generously donated essential items and services disaster survivors needed to get back on their feet.

Everyone who was impacted by the Slater Fire experienced some form of human kindness in a way they perhaps never had.  There were, in spite of the enormous challenges, a lot of feel-good moments mixed in.  They are what kept people moving forward.

Keeping this collaborative spirit alive, the RISE Staff and Steering Committee Officers, along with our Partners and Working Groups, are committed to doing what we can to ensure the good outweighs the bad for people needing help in Happy Camp, whether during a disaster or in everyday life when small emergencies can also turn people's lives upside down.  We believe that relying on
Resilience, Inclusion, Support and Education is what gets things done.
